On February 10, 1973, over 700 skiers from Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland turned out to test our slopes for the first time. Today, Massanutten is one of the Mid-Atlantic's premier snow resorts with over 2 million skiers and snowboarders having experienced the joy of sliding on our snow. No longer just a "ski" area, Massanutten welcomes snowboarding and snow tubing.
Known for firsts, Massanutten boasts being the first in Virginia to:

- Have the first quad chairlift.
- Light all 14 trails for night skiing.
