Learn to bodyboard or surf on the triple-jet FlowRider®, where 48,645 gallons of water each minute flow under you to create a ocean-like wave. Christened "The Pipeline," it is the first and biggest FlowRider® in Virginia! Lessons are available for riders who wish to take their skills to the next level.

Rules
  • Please obey the lifeguards and attendants at all times. 

  • Single riding only is permitted. No tandem riders or multiple single riding is permitted.
  • Avoid jumping into or entering the ride at high speeds. You will wipe out!
  • Caution! The ride surface is very slippery.
  • Horseplay and daredevil stunts are not permitted.
  • Must be barefoot to ride.
Requirements
  • Riders being free of medical conditions, including but not limit to pregnancy and heart, back or 
musculoskeletal problems and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs are allowed to ride. 

  • Guests under 42” tall are not permitted on this ride.
  • Riders must be able to swim in turbulent moving water.
  • Jewelry, hats, eyeglasses or loose articles of any type are not permitted on this ride as they may 
injure the participant.
Facts
  • Bodyboarding this sheet wave is a body-active, participatory sport. As with all sports, care must be 
taken to avoid injury. 

  • This is a very strenuous ride.
  • Bodyboarding: When instructed, place the bodyboard, slick side down, with the base of the board 
at your belly. Lie down with your stomach on the bodyboard, head first, with your hips along the rear edge of the board. Your legs should be extended straight behind you. Your hands should grab the forward rails of the board.
  • Steer your bodyboard into the center of the flowing water. You can control your bodyboard by 
gently shifting your weight. 

  • The flowing water may pull off bathing suit tops, bottoms and loose clothing. 
Cover-ups are suggested.

  • Running on or around Massanutten Meltdown is prohibited.
  • Climbing on pipes or handrails is prohibited.
  • Hanging or swinging on pull ropes is prohibited.
  • Do not run, dive, stand, kneel, rotate, or stop in the slide.
  • At the end of the slide, obey all instructions and exit quickly.
  • Correct riding position: Feet first, lying on back, legs firmly crossed at ankles and arms crossed 
over chest or in a seated position facing forward. No head first sliding.

  • Riders being free of medical conditions, including but not limit to pregnancy and heart, back or 
musculoskeletal problems and not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, are allowed to ride.
  • Eyeglasses must be securely affixed to riders with head straps.
  • Swimwear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets, or metal ornamentation is not permitted.
  • Maximum operational slide load: 1 person weighing up to 300 pounds.
  • Single riders only, never form chains.
  • Only one rider to enter the slide at a time.
Facts
  • Massanutten Meltdown sits in water 6 inches deep.
  • The exit lane for these rides have a water depth of 9 to 10 inches.
  • Riders must wait for the attendants start signal before starting the ride.

Rules

  • Guests must remain on their tube at all times during the ride.
  • Only single and double tubes are allowed in the river.
  • No piling or stacking of tubes.
  • No rough play, flipping, or pushing of tubes.
  • Enter and exit at designated areas only.
  • No jumping or diving into the river.
  • Lifejackets are recommended for small children and weak swimmers.
  • Upon exiting the river, place the tube off to the side or hand it to the next person in line.

  • Correct riding position: Tubes should be ridden in a seated position, facing forward. 
If riding double, the larger rider must sit in the back. If riding triple, the larger rider must sit in the middle and smallest rider in the front.
  • Riders must stay on the tube during the entire ride. If you accidentally fall from the tube 
continue down the flume without it and exit normally.
  • Do not run, dive, stand, kneel, rotate, or stop in the slide.
  • At the end of the slide, obey all instructions and exit quickly taking your tube with you.
  • Please return your tube to underneath the stair tower or give it to next person in line.
  • Must be barefoot to ride.

  • These slides exit in a catch pool with a maximum depth of 3 feet 6 inches.

  • All diaper-dependent guests must wear an approved swim diaper.

blood pressure should not enter the hot tub without prior medical consultation and permission from the doctor.
  • Guests under the influence of alcohol, tranquilizers, or drugs that cause drowsiness or that raise 
or lower blood pressure are not permitted in the hot tub.

  • This pool has a maximum depth of 3 feet 6 inches.
  • Lengthy exposure may result in nausea, drowsiness, or fainting.
  • Observe reasonable time limits of 10 to 15 minutes in the hot tub. Exit and cool down before another brief stay.
  • During winter months, prolonged exposure to chlorinated water may cause an adverse allergic 
skin reaction for those guests with sensitive or dry skin. We recommend that you take a cool shower before leaving the park.
