Learn to Ski or Ride, the Easy (and Fun) Way!

It's time to take away those first-day fears and up your winter game. Our world-class instructors will get you on the mountain faster and with more confidence - no matter if you’re a first-timer, second timer, or all-timer for that matter! Learn the basics of how to turn, stop, and use the lifts safely with our beginner group lessons. Or if individual attention is what you crave, take to the slopes with your own personal coach in a private lesson. View the below lessons tab to learn more and book a lesson online! Massanutten Resort are members of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). 

Our Learning Area is closed to the public during our lesson times for the safety of our guests and our instructors. Learning Area carpet lifts are closed daily until 5 pm. This area is available to the general public Friday - Monday 5 - 9 pm.

Private Lessons | All Ages (Only option for ages 6 & under)

If individual attention is what you crave, take to the slopes with your own personal coach! All ages and abilities welcome. Ages 6 & under may not be combined with other ages. Ages 6 & under need their own instructor. Reservations required. 

Slope-use tickets & equipment rentals are additional. Please view slope-use tickets & equipment rental prices here. Reminder: It is very important that you arrive 60 minutes in advance of your lesson. Please plan ahead and arrive on time. All guests must have a valid slope-use (season pass or daily ticket) and equipment (rentals or personal gear) to take a lesson.

If you are late for your lesson and the lesson needs to be moved to a different time, a fee of $25 will be applied.

Adult Group Lesson | Ages 13+

This Beginner Only Package is designed with a beginner skier or snowboarder in mind. Participants will progress through a 1.5 hour group lesson on our easiest terrain. This lesson focuses on the basics of how to turn, stop, and use the lifts safely.

Package includes Slope-Use Ticket, Equipment Rentals, and a 1.5 hour lesson. Reminder: It is very important that you arrive 60 minutes in advance of your lesson. Please plan ahead and arrive on time. Lesson Online Waiver

All guests will be required to complete a waiver prior to their lesson. Each guest aged 18 and older must complete their own waiver. Minors under age 18 will need to have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Save time and complete your waiver before you arrive at the Learning Center by clicking here.

 

Snow Sports Lessons Cancellation Policy

Snow sports lessons may be cancelled or modified, as availability allows, up to 24 hours in advance of the lesson. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the lesson time will only receive a 50% refund for cancelled lessons. No refunds will be given for requests made after the start of the lesson.

If you are late for your lesson and the lesson needs to be moved to a different time, a fee of $25 will be applied.

Adaptive Instruction

Did you know Massanutten partners with Therapeutic Adventures to offer an individualized approach to adaptive snow sports instruction? Due to the specialized nature of this program, please reserve in advance.

Massanutten Adaptive Snow Sports (M.A.S.S.) is provided in partnership with Therapeutic Adventures, Inc. This winter sports program is dedicated to serving persons of all ages and abilities who live with disabilities and complex medical needs. The focus of M.A.S.S. is to provide adaptive alpine instruction (skiing & snowboarding), helping individuals of all ages overcome a variety of challenges, to achieve functional independence, and to improve their quality of life.

With 42 years of continuous operation, M.A.S.S. has served hospitals and rehabilitation centers, therapeutic recreation departments, special education programs, groups, and private individuals.

Therapeutic Adventures, Inc. is a premier provider of adaptive sports and adaptive outdoor programs. We are proud of our highly trained and committed ALL volunteer staff. TA supports the following persons:

  • Physical & Developmental Disabilities
  • Disabled Military, Veterans, First Responders, and their families
  • Cancer Survivors
  • Complex Medical Diagnoses and Other Special Health Needs

What differentiates us from other non-profit organizations — the diversity and scope of our services.
